This is a support page for the main Rammey Ramsey biography and painting style page. See Rammey Ramsey for his life, Warlawoon Country, artistic development and distinctive painting style.

The value of Rammey Ramsey paintings is strongly influenced by period, style, size and provenance. Although important early works from 2000–03 are sought after, his auction results suggest that the most valuable paintings are predominantly from 2004 onward. His three highest recorded results in this selection are Warlawoon Country 2006 at $28,000, Warlawoon Country 2007 at $27,000 and Thalayiwan Country 2004 at $24,000.

From around 2004 Ramsey’s painting became freer and more expressive. He increasingly blended ochres and pigments wet into wet, creating broad fields in which pink, red, brown and white merge rather than remaining confined within hard geometric boundaries. These surfaces can evoke the dust, heat and atmosphere of Warlawoon Country while still referring to particular places.

By 2007–08 his palette expanded dramatically. Blue, turquoise, grey, cream, yellow and pink appear alongside the black forms and white dotted outlines characteristic of his earlier work. The market has responded particularly strongly to these mature paintings, with numerous 2007–08 examples among his higher auction results.

Large post-2004 works combining wet-blended colour with Ramsey’s distinctive geometric forms and dotted outlines appear to have the greatest value potential. Strong Jirrawun Arts provenance, important exhibition history and recognised collection provenance can add further desirability.
