Aboriginal Ceremonial Parrying Shield

Object type: Aboriginal Parrying Shield

Locality: Kimberley Western Australia

Artist: Unknown

Circa: 1940

Length: 62 cm

Description:

This Parrying shield was probably used as a weapon in its early life and then later as a ceremonial shield. It has a good patina on the handle from being carried and held.  The incisions in the center remind me of morning star designs.
